ColdFusion Job Opportunity in Newport News, VA

SALARY RANGE:  $21,800 – $31,400 (SI II)

The Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is seeking a student intern (school year) for a position in the Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) Department, Project Support Group (SRFPJS). The student would assist with software support and upgrades to the SRF’s data information system (Pansophy). Pansophy is a web based system utilizing HTML, ColdFusion, JavaScript, and PERL languages; as well as Oracle and PL/SQL database connectivity. The system also uses MS Word and MS Excel for data assimilation and automation. The student will assist with this development. Through the generation of MSExcel/MSWord macros, utilizing visual basic, repetitive tasks will be automated and data processing and analysis will be streamlined. The student will work directly with the software team members and work will change as projects are completed.

Students are required to have Sophomore/Junior/Senior standing in a four year computer science or computer engineering program with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Individuals must have basic skill in writing web applications utilizing HTML, ColdFusion, Java, JavaScript, and PERL. Additionally the applicants should possess the ability to develop in UNIX and Windows environments and experience in working with relational databases using Oracle and PL/SQL. Skill in MS Excel/MS Word, macro definition and Visual Basic is required. In addition, candidates must have effective team and communication skills and be able to work in groups successfully as well as individually. The applicants should have high initiative and be self-starters.

Proof of full-time student status and copies of transcripts are required (unofficial copies are acceptable).

Must be enrolled as a full time student and maintain full time student status. Full time is defined as a minimum per semester of 12 credit hours for Undergraduates and 9 credit hours for Graduate Students.

Availability to work up to 20 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00a.m. & 5:00 p.m.
