ColdFusion Job Opportunity in Durham, NC

SciMetrika is a public health consulting firm whose mission is to provide innovative scientific, technical, and logistical solutions that advance human health. We serve federal, state, and local agencies, commercial companies, educational institutions and private research organizations. We are currently seeking a Mid-Level IT Developer with ColdFusion experience to be based in Research Triangle Park, NC.

The position is to maintain and support web based applications that aid in maintaining information from testing programs managed by the National Toxicology Program (NTP) – Program Operations Branch Support (POBS) contract for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).

S/He will be a member of a dynamic, integrated, client-site team that supports intranet, extranet, and internet applications, primarily serving as the software architect over two software products for the team as well as the configuration release manager.  This position will also be involved in migrating a ColdFusion 9 application to another development team, maintaining several ColdFusion applications and forms and building database driven reports with IBM COGNOS.

Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Collect requirements and document software architecture and supporting workflows
  • Perform as a project lead for assigned development projects, including requirements solicitation and analysis, maintenance of project documents, regular status reporting, and occasional client mockup presentations or previews on project deliverables
  • Create and maintain technical product architecture and maintenance documentation on supported applications
  • Implement full lifecycle application development, adhering to CMMi Level 2 or above best practices
  • Design front end graphical user interfaces
  • Develop, maintain, and execute software unit tests
  • Research ways to solve problems
  • Understand and implement scientific data relationships
  • Monitor and recommend improvements in one of the CMMi process areas, such as Configuration Management.
  • Mentor junior and intern developers new to ColdFusion programming

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred, in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in the areas of web-based applications and database development is preferred.

Required Technical Skills:

  • ColdFusion 9 or above, including development in CFSCRIPT
  • Object-oriented design and analysis
  • Supporting a Java application
  • Unit testing
  • Web Application Development
  • Understanding object-oriented design and analysis
  • Familiarity with Model View Controller (MVC) frameworks such as Fusebox or Framework One (FW/1)
  • Familiarity with Oracle databases including SQL, PL/SQL
  • Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, XML and additional web based technologies
  • Familiarity with XSLT stylesheets

Additional Technical Skills (strongly preferred):

  • Development and maintenance of IBM COGNOS reports
  • Understanding of how to build ORM utilized ColdFusion applications
  • Familiarity with building secure applications with technologies such as OWASP
  • Knowledge of 508 Compliance and making applications accessible
  • Experience working with biomedical systems
  • Experience maintaining continual integration servers such as Hudson or Jenkins
  • Designing and  building responsive design web sites
  • Familiarity with CMMi Level 2
  • Experience building and executing ANT scripts
