Job Description:

Omitron is seeking candidate to fulfill the role of Systems Engineer/Software Developer to provide systems engineering support with particular focus on the satellite ground systems and the tracking and documenting of their configurations. The candidate will assist in the capturing of system configurations and changes that are made to existing systems, as well as planned upgrades and future systems. The candidate will also be part of the code development team.

Specific responsibilities include:

– capture satellite ground system configurations and develop diagrams that reflect the state of the ground systems and the elements of the ground systems

– perform hardware audits of the NOAA facilities

– participate in development and design of the diagram display tools unique to the task

– support technical interchange meetings to collect data and help assess the ground system situation at NOAA

Skill Requirements:

Applicants must be capable of performing a wide range of systems engineering activities. Comfort working with common industry standard computer applications such as word processors, spreadsheets, and graphical presentation applications is required. The applicant must be familiar with CAD programs, preferably Visio. Programming knowledge using C# (C Sharp), Adobe ColdFusion, Javascript, and SQL as well as a functional knowledge of HTML(4+) is desired. Applicants should have a strong background in engineering. Familiarity with NASA and NOAA culture, observational satellite systems, and science is highly desirable.

Required Experience:

1-3 years of experience in ground systems support and engineering and familiarity with satellite communications, and/or 1-3 years of software development and programming.

Required Degree:

Bachelor degree in engineering or science is required.

Job Location:

Beltsville, MD. Periodic travel may also be required.
