ColdFusion Job Opportunity in Annapolis, MD

Position Goals:

  • To support the needs of Information Technology through coding new and maintaining existing web applications, namely QMDATA, MyQM, the Course Review Management System, My Custom Reviews, and Program Review tools (to be developed).
  • To support Quality Matters leaders toward the achievement of the Quality Matters Program’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Application Development
    • Work closely with fellow technology team members to design, develop, test, deliver, implement, and maintain high quality, cost effective, data-driven web applications
    • Use departmental design, architectural, and development standards, and sound coding techniques effectively and efficiently
    • Work effectively within the Subversion software versioning and revision control environment
    • Coordinate application plans, requirements, schedules, and activities through regular (daily) communications with development team on active projects
    • Use task and project management systems to document work performed and coordinate with QA and business team members
    • Manage projects throughout the entire systems development life cycle (including presenting timely/thorough status reports).
    • Assure that reports and applications are designed/coded that meet the defined requirements and execute efficiently
    • Work on multiple projects with different deadlines often under pressure
    • Accurately estimate time to complete work/project
    • Provide technical guidance to the team
    • Troubleshoot development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms
    • Document and fix identified bugs and defects
    • Participate in technology team and design meetings
  • Collaborate as a member of the Quality Matters Team
    • Coordinate and cooperate with Quality Matters staff to ensure the Program and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
    • Participate in weekly staff meetings – from a distance or in-person as determined by Quality Matters Director
    • Attend in-person QM conferences and any required organizational or planning meetings
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree (Essential), Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Related Area (Desirable)
  • 5+ Years Experience Developing and Maintaining Web Applications Using ColdFusion and Java(Essential)
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to independently manage workload (Essential)
  • Must work well with other developers, technical and non-technical staff (Essential)
  • Must be able to manage time and milestones effectively, be self-motivated and work and communicate effectively. (Essential)
  • Solid grounding in data driven applications and concepts (data/object modeling, database systems) (Essential)
  • Demonstrable experience in building modern, complex customer­facing web applications
  • Experience working in a startup or agile development environment (Essential)
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of ColdFusion8/9/10(Essential)
  • Strong hands-on experience of SQL(Essential)
  • Strong debugging/QA Skills (Essential)
  • Adobe Developer Certification(Desirable)
